Second annual Paul Bunyan Snocross returns to Bangor for East Coast Snocross,
Presented by AMSOIL, Woody’s Traction and FXR
CLARKSBURG, Mass. (Dec. 21, 2015) – As the 2016 racing season draws ever closer, plans are coming together for an exciting weekend of racing in one of Maine’s most well-known cities.
Officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) and the Eastern Maine Community College Foundation are pleased to announce the second annual Paul Bunyan Snocross, presented by Dysarts, will return to historic Bass Park in Bangor on Saturday and Sunday, January 30-31.
This exciting snowmobile competition is again hosted by the Eastern Maine Community College Foundation. The foundation promotes, encourages and supports all educational activities at Eastern Maine Community College. The foundation manages over 50 scholarship funds in support of students achieving a high-quality, hands-on, career and technical education at EMCC.
“We’re excited about heading back to Bangor for a second time,” series owner Kurt Gagne said. “Everybody welcomed us with open arms up there last winter, and Bass Park makes an ideal venue for snocross. There is so much to see and do in Bangor; we’re proud to bring championship snocross to Maine’s Queen city for the second time. I hope those who missed us last January will come on out.”
Along with thrilling qualifying heats and finals in Pro Open and Pro Lite, fans can expect plenty of great racing in the Sport, Women, Junior, and Trail classes, as well. ECS has added 800cc trail sleds to its entry-level classes so more recreational riders can test the waters of snocross. Add a 120cc program for kids ages 6 to 10 on a smaller track, and you’ve got a weekend the entire family can enjoy.
“This event was very well-received by the entire community last year, and served as a great winter-time fundraiser for the Foundation,” EMCC official Jennifer Khavari said. “We’re pleased to bring the high-flying action of snocross back to Bangor in 2016, and appreciate the strong support local partners like Dysarts and Darling’s Auto have provided. We’re excited about this second annual race.”
The second annual Paul Bunyan Snocross, presented by Dysarts, continues a rich tradition of snowmobile racing in Bangor, dating back to February of 1968 when the Bangor Jaycees sponsored the first Paul Bunyan Classic at Bass Park. While oval racing may have long since faded away, snocross continues to usher in a new era of power sports entertainment.
East Coast Snocross, presented by AMSOIL, Woody’s Traction and FXR, is an ISR-affiliated sanctioning body and is the eastern regional affiliate of ISOC. ECS strives to maintain a healthy level of competition in grassroots snocross while also cultivating new talent for tomorrow’sfactory-backed national teams.
