Welcome! We strive to make snowmobiling in the Moosehead Lake Region the way snowmobiling should be – Safe & Fun!
It was in 1968 that the Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club was first organized. There were 57 families that first year and was expected that there would be 75 families by the second year. As of 2012-2013, the Moosehead Riders Snowmobile Club is the 4th largest club in the State of Maine.
It was hoped that the club would be incorporated that first year, but it was not incorporated until 1978. Land was purchased on the Scammon Road for what is now our present club location. Snowmobiling as recreation for wintertime fun was now being promoted by clubs throughout Maine.
The Moosehead Lake Region has been a calling card for millions of people over the years. Its forests, waters, and wildlife have drawn people since the early days when Native Americans came for flint at Mt. Kineo. Boats in the summer and snowshoes in the winter were the mode of travel. Travelers have come to escape the cities, timber companies have harvested the forests, and many others have come for relaxation or sport. With the area opening up with camps spread far and wide, the invention of the snowmobile made it possible for easier access to remote areas. This is where we come in…
