Shelton sweeps Semi-Pro classes in delayed season opener
GREIG, New York (Jan. 31, 2021) — Veteran snowmobile racers Heath Bell and Matt Cameron split the Pro finals over the weekend, as Rock Maple Racing (RMR) opened its 2021 cross country racing season on Saturday at High Voltage MX in Greig, New York.
Bell, of New Gloucester, Maine, powered his way to victory in the Pro Stock final, with Luke Vaadi (Mannsville, NY) and Dylan Thompson (Lincoln, ME) filling out the podium in second and third. Arctic Cat riders Kenny Murphy (Oswego, NY) and Cameron rounded out the top five.
Cameron, of Palmerton, PA, started his day by outrunning Bell to claim the Pro Open final. Vaadi capped a solid outing with a third-place finish, with Thompson and Murphy completing the top five. Scott Preston, of Rochester, finished sixth and also won the Pro Am Plus 40 final.
In Semi-Pro action, Aaron Shelton (Walton, NY) swept the top spots with a brilliant effort. In the Stock class, he held off former snocross regular Austin Kodey (Endicott, NY) and Logan Neill (Hornell, NY) for top honors. In the Improved class, Brock Young (West Glover, VT) claimed second while New Hampshire’s Eric Gleich (Boscawen) filled out the podium in third.
