ABOUT SUGARBUSH RESORT
Sugarbush’s motto was once, ‘Where Great Skiers Ski,’ and that sums up the mountain. Where else can you ride up the lift with such skiing legends as the Egans, Doug Lewis, or a racer from the Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS)? Where else can you enjoy challenging terrain spread out on several different peaks offering up to 2,600 vertical feet of skiing excitement?
Lincoln Peak, the original Sugarbush, features many accommodations as well as great skiing off of Lincoln Peak on runs such as Paradise and Organgrinder. As for experts, I only need mention the famous Castlerock Area to invoke images of narrow, snowchoked bump runs whose names include Rumble, Middle Earth, and Castlerock. These will challenge any skier or rider and are unique to Sugarbush. Intermediates and families will enjoy the sun-basked slopes of the Gatehouse and North Lynx areas.
As if that wasn’t enough, just a short 2-mile ride on the Slide Brook Express brings one to Mt. Ellen and its 2,600 vertical feet of terrain. Ellen boasts some new glades, wide cruisers and easy boulevards such as Elbow and Cruiser, and steep expert bumps such as FIS, all served by a network of fast quad chairs. The views are dramatic and the snow lasts from November through May.
Located in the beautiful and authentic Mad River Valley, Sugarbush is a resort that all serious skiers and riders must visit at least once, or at least, if they consider themselves to be truly ‘great.’
