Jay, Maine

Andy Valley Riders Snowmobile Club

Jay club resources and a specific Whistle Stop washout warning, kept separate from Auburn’s similarly named club.

First published 2013-10-25 · Reviewed October 23, 2026

Andy Valley Riders is the Jay, Maine snowmobile club linked by the town’s recreation page and the University of Maine’s Jay activities guide. It is separate from Andy Valley Sno Gypsies in Auburn and the Western Maine ATV Club.

Check the Whistle Stop closure notice

The state’s Whistle Stop Trail page describes the Jay–Wilton–Farmington rail trail, but it also carries a June 30, 2023 washout notice: Farmington to Route 2/4 in Wilton reopened, while Wilton to Jay was closed indefinitely. That dated warning must be resolved with the trail manager before planning a through ride; the page’s general year-round description is not a newer reopening announcement.

The state links a Whistle Stop map and directions managed by the Bureau of Parks and Lands. The town-linked French Falls recreation map is marked February 1, 2017 and shows local color-coded trails and landmarks. It is not a current snowmobile network map or a reopening notice for the Whistle Stop Trail. General activity listings and French Falls trailhead directions do not independently resolve the washout notice or guarantee winter trailer access. Check the intended segment, current signs and seasonal restrictions with the manager and club.

Confirm the parking arrangement

The university’s visitor guide identifies Jay Plaza on Route 4 as a snowmobile parking lead. The state page also describes parking beside the shopping centre and off French Falls Lane. Confirm permission, plowing, space for the vehicle and trailer, and an open connecting route before using either location. A listing or an old rail-bed connection is not a guarantee that parking or onward travel is available.

Find the next club notice

Follow the town-linked Andy Valley Riders page for local notices and joining enquiries. Previously captured posts include an October 14, 2020 meeting notice; it is not this season’s meeting. Older member totals, grooming mileage, equipment lists and the 2014 funding report have not been adopted as current facts. Confirm current membership terms and the next work party directly through the club.
