In a September 1, 2026 announcement, Loon Mountain Resort outlined Black Ridge, a planned 272-acre area of expert-only, in-bounds tree skiing. The resort said work was slated to begin in early 2027, with opening planned for winter 2027–28.
The plan calls for natural-snow terrain, without grooming or snowmaking, and no additional chairlift access. Loon described gated access from North Peak and a traverse of up to 1.25 miles, with some hiking potentially needed.
These are the resort’s dated plans, rather than a report that the terrain is open. Check Loon’s current updates before planning a visit.
